
Shahid Yasser Osuna is a Los Angeles-based flutist and teaching artist. He earned his Bachelor of Music in Wind Performance from California State University, Northridge in 2019, where he studied with David Shostac and was featured as a soloist with the CSUN Symphony Orchestra, performing Jolivet’s Concerto as a winner of the Upper-Division Concerto Competition. In 2021, he completed his Master of Fine Arts in Instrumental Arts at the California Institute of the Arts, studying with Dr. Rachel Rudich.
Shahid has performed with numerous orchestras across the Los Angeles area, including the Whittier Regional Symphony, Bellflower Symphony Orchestra, San Fernando Valley Symphony, Filipino American Symphony Orchestra, Afro-American Chamber Music Society Orchestra, and Vicente Chamber Orchestra.
An avid flute choir enthusiast, he has performed with ensembles such as the Sterling Flute Choir, Silver Sounds Flute Choir, FluteSonic, and Song of Angels Flute Choir. His arrangements have been premiered at the National Flute Association Convention and published through SilverWinds Publishing. He currently serves as Co-Artistic Director of the Los Angeles Flute Choir.
Shahid has taught students of all ages and levels across Southern California through various music organizations, including Los Angeles Philharmonic’s YOLA program and the Assistance League of Flintridge. Since 2018, he has served as the Flute Teaching Artist for the Laby Harmony Project, a program of the New West Symphony in Ventura, CA, and maintains a private studio in the San Fernando Valley.
